You may wake up one day and find yourself extinct

The power of an immortal. The soul of a human. The heart of a hero.

From the pulse-pounding opening sequence to the inevitably bloody conclusion, Blade has enough thrills to keep any avid action fan happy!

Eric Brooks, or Blade as he's better known, is yet another Marvel character to find his way on to the big screen, and quite deservedly so! Even if they did change the fact that he wasn't half-vampire in the comics!

Snipes, as Blade, does a wonderful job at keeping the action going while still managing to keep a comedy element but it's very evident that Stephen Norrington had only directed one other film before this. The film is great but in certain areas it tries too hard to be new wave and "interesting" with flashy cuts here and there and time-in-motion shots. Rather than add to the film those elements seem to take something away.

As good as Stephen Dorff is as Deacon Frost and as well as he fills the character his boyish charm and good looks almost outweigh his ability to be a villain. It's unfortunate that pulling faces doesn't get you anywhere when being a movie bad guy!

As a whole the trilogy is superb but splitting the films up leaves you wondering why the first one wasn't as good as the third and why they bothered with the second one at all!

'It's not over. You keep your cure. There's still a war going on, and I have a job to do. You wanna help, make me a better serum." ... and so comes the sequel!

We will hardly agree on anything, will we? Haha.
I really like the first movie (and the soundtrack, which I have, for that thumping remix of Confusion) and I LOVE the second movie and thought the third was a disappointment but still enjoyable enough cos . . y'know it was BLADE.

Hahaha! But disagreeing and discussion rather than arguing makes life interesting! Imagine how boring things would be if we all had the same opinions on everything!

So, from my opinion...

The first one was good and yes the soundtrack fantastic but Norrington just didn't do a good enough job for my liking and Dorff was too... erm... too handsome.

The second one was annoying from a comic book fans point of view because I don't for one minute believe he'd have teamed up with the vamps, and yes I know they all all ended up dying anyway, I just don't think he'd have done in the first place.

The third one is a personal favourite because of the introduction of the Nightstalkers! I was always a fan of them and Ryan Reynolds and Hannibal Kane is just how I imagined him.

Well, I couldn't agree more on your views about disagreement, haha.

I must say that I never read the comic books so don't have any of that material to compare things to. That's always a tough balancing act, I think.

Speaking of which, I just ordered the 3-disc special edition of Hellboy off e-bay for a small sum and am looking forward to it landing softly on my doormat next week. Did you like that? I was a bit disappointed in places but overall found it to be a blast, think I may be turning into quite a Del Toro whore because he hasn't let me down yet.

Okay before I start this reply let me apologise.

I have a thing about Ron Perlman. I can't stand him*. I have a huge conflict on interests when it comes to his films because I love some of the films he's in but still can't stand him.

Sadly even though I tried to ignore the fact that he was Hellboy I ended up hating it anyway. John Hurt was good and I loved the effects, although the baby Hellboy was a bit awful, everything else was great and I think Del Toro did a fantastic job. I don't feel he let me down, it's just Ron Perlman. And Selma Blair always looks like she's about to burst into tears. I did enjoy Doug Jones as Abe though.

*This isn't why I don't like Blade 2.

Perlman is certainly a hard man to like (onscreen, I mean, he seems VERY personable in interviews and backstage peaks). Ironically enough, I tend to like him more nowadays because of his work with Del Toro.

I know what you mean about Blair (out of place in The Fog remake too . . *shudder* . . as far as I was concerned).

And I did get a bit irritated by the way those "indestructible" hell-beasties were dealt with but I won't go into too much detail for those who haven't seen it.

Now I shall shuffle off and stop dragging your conversation away from the Blade man himself. :)

love dorff but the blade series has never done anything for me... after the night club scene its all down hill imo

Yes, the first one does seem to lose a little something but that's Norrington for you.

The second one was just a nice filler.

Trinity was a masterpiece.

neh none of them have ever impressed me apart from the first one when i only liked it cause i was too young to watch it... and liked more things when i was younger as i hadnt seen as much
